Deciding what to wear on a daily basis can be a chore for some of us. Deciding what to wear to a wedding - where you know there will be photos and you really want to do your best - that can be a whole other can of worms!
We're here, along with some guidance from The Black Tux, to help not just the dapper dudes but the lovely ladies as well.
THE DO'S & THE DON'TS
DON'T
Wear white. Unless the invitation specifies a "white party" leave the white, off-white, ivory and cream outfits at home. With more and more wedding couple's opting for blush these days, I'd go so far as to avoid that as well. These colors are reserved for the wedding couple.
DO
Be mindful of your footwear. You know you're going to be on your feet for a long period of time at a wedding whether you dance or not, so be sure to take this into consideration. Additionally, if the venue is outdoors or in an historic location, heels may be difficult due to sand, grass, cobblestones or gaps in the floorboards. Stick to wedges, flats or dressy sandals.
DON'T
Wear anything uncomfortable or that needs constant attending. Straps that fall down, pants that don't fit, and buttons that might pop will cause you to be distracted all night. Avoid the frustration and go with fit and comfort.
DO
Take note of the dress code. Sometimes this is listed on the actual invitation or on the couple's wedding website but if not, take cues from the venue. Is it at a country club or hotel ballroom? At the beach or destination?
