While Elizabeth and Erik had crossed paths several times as Capitol Hill staffers, they never met until they were introduced by mutual friends during Snowmaggedon in 2010. Several years later, Erik finished law school and took Elizabeth on what she thought was a well-deserved beach vacation. To her surprise, on their last night of the trip, Erik proposed at sunset on Sanibel Island - dolphins flipping in the background and all!
