When you first get engaged you probably instantly form a to-do list in your head.

  • Discuss our budget

  • Choose a Date

  • Start a Guest List

  • Choose Wedding Colors

  • Pick a Wedding Party

You’re probably also wondering if you should hire a wedding planner. Having someone to assist you throughout the planning process vetting vendors, providing guidance and helping you make decisions is undoubtedly invaluable. However, a full planner may not be the right option for everyone.

Here’s how you know if you need a full service wedding planner.

  1. You have grand ideas and no idea how to execute them. Coming up with a design plan for your wedding is only half the battle. Finding the right vendors in a sea of options to execute your vision is the hardest thing to navigate. A wedding planner can help you do that.

  2. You’re too busy to plan a wedding in this lifetime. Between work and your social commitments, you’ve got too much on your plate to plan your big day. With a wedding planner on your side, you can keep up with all commitments and still have the perfect wedding without having a nervous breakdown.

  3. You’re having trouble making decisions or have no idea where to start. With your wedding, the possibilities are endless. If you don’t know where to start or are struggling to make any decisions at all, you should talk to a planner immediately. They can help you flush out ideas, assist you in realizing what you do want and guide you through the decision making process.

  4. You have a wedding budget of at least $85,000. Hiring a full service help bring your wedding vision to life, while keeping the stress off of you, is a major wedding expense. With a smaller budget, you’d have to make sacrifices in other areas that would compromise your overall wedding experience.

  5. You feel more comfortable with an experienced professional advocating on your behalf. You might have a vision and know how to execute it. You may have time to handle the majority of planning on your own. And, you may have no issue making decisions. However, you’ve never planned a wedding before. Having an experienced event planner next to you from “Yes” to “I Do” may be exactly what you need to take your wedding from better to best.

If after reading these points you’ve decided a full-service wedding planner isn’t right for you for any of the reasons stated, you don’t have to be left without assistance. I strongly encourage you to consider a wedding management package. This service is ideal for couples that are comfortable handling the majority of planning on their own. A planner, such as myself, would get involved six weeks from your wedding date to help complete your timeline, organize final details and ensure the whole day comes together exactly as you imagined.
