Say hi to Megan and RSVP Catering. Serving the Washington D.C. metro area, RSVP Catering prides itself on a commitment to service, excellence and quality. Their culinary innovation has made them the premier caterer for weddings, corporate and social events throughout the area for over 25 years.

A good caterer is one of the cornerstones of a great wedding and choosing the right caterer for you, your taste and your budget is crucial. We sat down with Megan to learn more about her, RSVP and what every couple needs to know when meeting with caterers. Keep reading to find out what she has to share.

Tell us about yourself and RSVP. Hi! I’m Megan Gorenflo and I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. I ventured off to Charlotte to attend Culinary School at Johnson & Wales University and landed in Washington D.C. shortly after graduating. I’m currently working as a Senior Account Executive at RSVP Catering which gives me the opportunity to do what I love every day. Outside of RSVP, I enjoy spending time with my handsome Fiancé and energetic Australian Shepherd.

What makes you unique as a caterer? I believe that my extensive Food and Beverage Background sets me apart in the D.C. catering world with RSVP Catering. My passions are food and entertaining, which coincidentally go hand in hand. Taking the time to get to know the values of our clients and translating that through our food and service is how successful events are born.

What is your favorite part of the wedding day? I like the satisfaction of seeing how happy the Bride and Groom are to see all of their hard work and planning come together. I know that Catering is a large part of what makes up a wedding and when couples trust us with their big day it is all the gratification needed for this job. Annnddd...the glass of Rosé at the end of the evening. Ha!

What do you think are the top 3 questions couples should ask when they are considering you as their caterer. “What questions do you have for us?” Let the caterer quiz you! This is how they learn how to best fulfill your needs. When I’m meeting a couple or client for the first time, I try and ask everything and anything possible to gain a better understanding of what is most important and how I can best help them. Ask about the experience they have with the venue. This is something that can make or break an event. A great caterer can successfully adapt to the conditions of any space. Do you offer the services of what we are looking fo within our desired budget?

What do you see as someone’s biggest fear or obstacle when it comes to choosing their caterer?Trust. This is something that is common when spending any large amount of money for something. In today’s world we do everything via internet, phone etc. The best way to feel comfortable with something is gaining the most knowledge about what you are committing to. Do your research! Sometimes, it can be as simple as scheduling a face – to – face meeting- I know! Shocking!! Haha- walking into a Catering Company, getting the vibe of the company and having a personal connection with your main POC can ease or confirm your fears instantaneously.

What wedding or event trends do you currently love? Having an interactive element for your guests! Let’s Face It! Guests of your wedding have probably been to eight other weddings in the past year in addition to yours. Make your guests feel excited about your big day- whether it be an interactive food station during cocktail hour (Rolling Taco Carts are a personal favorite of mine) or having a photo booth printing out a copy of each group to put in your guest book documenting the night- get the guests involved!

If you were a beverage, what would you be? A friend once told me I’d be a whiskey on the rocks. I do love my bourbon!

Any other advice for couples considering caterers for their wedding? Do your research and have an idea of what is most important to you before you start asking for proposals. Identify what are the top things that would make your wedding the most amazing day of your life so that when you have conversations with caterers they can determine how to best fit your needs. Also, be sure to follow up with your vendors- a lot of companies take time in preparing customized packages for you- let them know if you are interested or not.

Do you have a favorite quote? Please share it! “When you love what you have, you have everything you need.”
